Supporters of Fred Wooden
Fred represents my core values. He stands for dignity, respect, and the inclusion of all people. He is committed to making our economy work for everyone and believes that everyone should have affordable healthcare. I know he will represent the voices of his constituents as a Congressman. Having known Fred since he arrived here in Grand Rapids I have come to respect those attributes which should be mandatory for any civil servant. He is compassionate, pragmatic, vigilant & loyal. Beyond that, he has a grasp of the complexities that are inherent in every important political and social issue. His understanding of the Constitution is impressive. And with the wisdom that he has acquired in life, he still maintains an intellectual curiosity that few can match. I believe that Fred Wooden can help West Michigan attain the next level in social justice economic prosperity and quality of life.
Never has there been a time when an honest, noble, brave and respected leader is more needed in our government. One who will have the courage to speak Truth to Power. That is what Fred Wooden has been doing his whole adult life and we can trust he will continue to do so. I am supporting, working, and voting for Fred Wooden because his message is composed of hope for our democracy, a voice for the underprivileged, and the reason we are Americans; provide liberty and justice for all.
I have known Fred for many years. He is an honest good man. He cares about social issues in our community and indeed the world. The collection plate at Fountain Street Church is not for the running of the church unless money is designated as a tithe. Instead, all undesignated donated money is used to support people not only in our community but all over the world. This has had a huge impact on the lives of many people: for example homeless families finding homes and jobs in Grand Rapids through Family Promise, new moms getting support with Mom’s Bloom, and students in Nepal and El Salvador getting the educations they need to become skilled/professionals, who are now paying back by sponsoring students in their countries. The number of people impacted is huge. Fred pushed for this in his church. I admire Fred caring for people and what is right, rather than what may be politically expedient and acceptable.
