Fred is now compiling his several pilgrim journeys into published accounts.  The first is “Basho and I Take a Long Walk,” which describes his experience along the Kumano Kodo in Japan as if he were walking with the great poet himself.  In those famous journeys, Basho shares his haiku along with those of his travel partners.  So Fred pairs his haiku with those of Basho as he walks the remote path through the Kii Peninsula to the Nachi Taisha shrine.

With this account Fred pairs a second ‘inverse’ pilgrimage in which he sets out to compose a haiku a day as a spiritual exercise in finding the distinct and memorable in daily life.  You can buy it through Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC6YQDJB

He is revising his most recent journey, walking from Selma AL to Montgomery AL in 2019, which he expects to release in January 2023.
